reflections of 3 continents

As Rucker already explained in his catalogue ”The Coconut Within the Tide“, he perceives himself as a wanderer, who arrives at a place and lives there for a while, then opting for a change of scenery, to return at a later point in time. The places which have impacted the artist the most, thus far, are New York City, Rome, Bali and, in Austria, Salzburg, Vienna and Graz. Therefore, the photographs of three continents are not merely a travel log, but innermost reflections of extended time spent working there. Within the photos, the indicative light results in surreal-appearing mirror images. Windshields, window panes, water, fog or rain serve as reflecting surfaces. Looking at its effect, the photo “Giordano nella notte” represents a pure absorption of light into black. The multiple effects of the photographs prompt the beholder to reflect upon them.
